Three Leaf Cards founders Steve Knaub and Andy Atkins became fast friends in high school, running cross country. That friendship flourished over the years when the two explored their mutual appreciation of the great outdoors with camping trips to the Sierra Nevada and beyond, cameras in hand.
Steve, a businessman with a keen passion for nature and sustainability, and Andy, a visual artist for the film industry, searched for decades to find a business that would blend their talents while benefiting people and the planet. They brainstormed the idea for a values-based digital online greeting service on one of their camping trips, and in late 2005, Three Leaf Cards was born.
Why the name Three Leaf? It’s a triple-bottom-line business, which means that while providing a great service to members, it also helps make a positive impact on people and the world. Sending beautiful online greetings connects people, saves resources (from trees to petroleum products), and helps support Three Leaf’s Nonprofit Partners—10% of each membership fee is donated directly to the nonprofit organization the member chooses.
Three Leaf Cards' mission is to provide great online cards that serve a greater good. It supports nonprofit groups that work to restore balance to the environment and help people live better lives. We want all those we encounter to benefit, from our families to yours.
